Hardware Engineer

What does a Hardware Engineer do at Fiserv?

You'll help engineer our smart payment terminals and POS devices that enable our merchants to process billions of dollars worth of transactions.  Reliability and security are critical, but we also need to build new innovative features for POS/payment devices. 

What You Will Do:

  • Work closely with our JDM partners to guide hardware designs through the design phase and verification builds and into mass production.  Build and execute test plans by leveraging resources at our partners.  Lead root cause analysis efforts to identify suitable solutions.

  • Work on-site with manufacturing partners to review designs, run experiments, and troubleshoot issues.

  • On-site support at the manufacturing site during the NPI stages to ensure the design is built and tested successfully.

  • Assist in compliance efforts, sustaining work for existing products, and post-launch failure analysis efforts.

  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects and driving results in a changing environment.

  • Must be familiar with standard engineering release practices and detail in hardware issue tracking and documentation.

What You Will Need to Have:

  • 8+ years of experience in wireless consumer electronics/embedded system design.

  • Experience with various high speed communication protocols and interfaces, battery-powered system design with display and touch screen, analog/digital and audio design, and PCB/flex circuit technologies.

  • Must have strong EE fundamentals and a strong record of accomplishment of shipping products.  Knowledge of the product development process with focus on system integration and design for manufacturing and design for test.

  • Experience with driving JDMs and design partners to deliver hardware design that meets or exceeds the hardware design requirements and program schedule.

  • Experience in the following areas is desirable: 3G/4G/LTE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi product design with knowledge of antenna integration, desense, EMI, ESD, and PCB routing issues related to wireless devices.  Experience with hardware development for Android systems

  • Must have hands-on experience in prototype bring-up and debugging, functional verification and manufacturing support

  • Must have experience designing high volume products from beginning to end and managing offshore ODMs.

  • Experience with schematic entry and board level layout design review using Cadence/Allegro.

  • Solid experience with hardware/RF lab equipment.

  • Position will require international travel to various manufacturing sites.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and technical leadership skills.

  • The ideal candidate is someone from a consumer electronics background who has designed high volume, low power, and high-quality products.
