Principal Engineer, DeviceOS AOSP Development

About the Team

  • The DeviceOS team at Clover owns all the platform software running on a Clover device and also supports mass manufacturing software.  

  • As a Principal Engineer in the DeviceOS team, you will serve as a key player who will drive and communicate our vision and maintain high-quality support to enable a consistent experience to our end users. What you will do:

  • Create functional solution architecture, product requirement documents and collaborate with the engineering and product team to identify and design the technical solution.

  • Develop & customize the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for Clover point of sale solutions.

  • Design and develop innovative, customized features and modules, and optimize Android systems at the framework layer.

  • Develop & customize Android services and applications that are compatible with multiple Android versions and devices.

  • Collaborate with several cross functional teams needed to design and launch a hardware product/platform.

  • Closely work with our manufacturing partners and ensure that our factories run smoothly and strive to achieve 100% yield.

What you will need to have:

  • 7+ years of software development experience with strengths in AOSP

  • Must have work experience with strong focus on architecture and design of Android devices and platforms (not apps).

  • Proficiency in at least two of the major programming languages used in AOSP (Java, C, C++, Kotlin).

  • Experience in Android frameworks adaptation and HAL adaptation.

  • Good working knowledge of revision control and code review tools like Git, Gerrit etc.

  • General understanding of security protocols, encryption/decryption technologies, PKI, HSM, certificates management.

What would be great to have:

  • Experience on Android HAL development or Project Treble would be a plus.

  • Experience on working with Linux Kernel for Android and Trustzone would be a plus.

  • Experience in mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior engineers.

Salary Range

$167,200.00 - $276,100.00
