What does a Support Engineer do?
As a Support Engineer, you will be a part of a growing team of hardworking people responsible for creating and maintaining a suite of cutting edge back-of-house web applications, point-of-sale APIs, and Android client applications for an exciting market.  Support Engineers collaborate with other engineers and coworkers from across the business on a regular basis and treat everyone with respect.  Support Engineers investigate and solve difficult problems for high-profile customers with the help of their teammates.  Support Engineers help design and build exciting features into a product set that has a large existing user base.  Support Engineers come to work ready to learn and ready to help our customers and help your teammates from across the company find success.

As a Support Engineer, you can look forward to:
• Learning from a talented and helpful team of coworkers, including experienced Cloud Engineers
• Collaborating with Product Managers, Product Owners, Quality Engineers, Cloud Engineers, Android Engineers, Site Reliability Engineers, Release Engineers, Support Engineers, and other teammates from across the business to identify and resolve complex technical issues related to exciting projects for high-profile customers.
• Communicating across Engineering and Support to keep information flowing
• Being proactive about learning the system, tools, and best practices
• Being the first point of contact for Product Support and Technical Success for non-urgent issues
• Creating, editing, and commenting on bug stories to document your findings
• Monitoring Sentry and New Relic for errors and performance issues proactively
• Creating tooling for the Product Support and Technical Success teams
• Creating tooling for yourself and other Support Engineers to use to resolve or alleviate customer issues from the field
• Proactively performing tests and running automation to recreate and identify customer issues from the field
• Participating in after hours incident management as part of an on-call rotation.
• Being a team player, able to share your ideas and respectfully consider the ideas of others.
• Being proactive about learning the system, tools, and best practices

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required or relevant job experience
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• Strong desire for a career in engineering
• A proactive and efficient worker with an ability to produce a lot of written content on a daily basis
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and identifying the root causes of application errors
• An ability to learn highly complex systems and tooling
• An ability to analyze large amounts of data and isolate trends
• Experience in scripting, web services, or web application development
• Experience in UNIX/Linux operating systems and tools, terminal command line
• Experience with SQL and basic understanding of databases
• Experience and knowledge of front-end and back-end programming languages, such as Javascript, Ruby, and Java/Kotlin
